Quick Overview

Human kCa3.1 potassium ion channel-expressing, stable replicating cell line.

Background

The human KCNN4 gene encodes the pore-forming subunit of KCa3.1, the calcium-activated IK potassium channel. KCa3.1 channels expressed in lymphocytes, fibroblasts, proliferating vascular smooth muscle cells, vascular endothelium and, intestinal and airway epithelia are therapeutic targets in inflammatory diseases in these tissues. KCa3.1 channels expressed in erthrocytes have been investigated as targets for treatment of sickle cell anemia.
