  • hCav1.2 Current-Voltage Relationship. Superimposed current traces (upper panel) evoked by 50-ms test pulses (lower panel) from -60 to +50 mV in 10 mV increments, holding potential -80 mV. Currents recorded in manual patch clamp, whole-cell mode.
  • Normalized peak current amplitude (mean ± sem, n = 9 cells) plotted as a function of test pulse amplitude (mV). Currents recorded in manual patch clamp, whole-cell mode.

Quick Overview

Human Cav1.2/β2/α2δ1 ion channel-expressing, transiently transfected cells.

Background

The human CACNA1C gene encodes the pore-forming subunit of voltage-gated L-type Ca2+ channels. Co-expression with the β2 and α2δ1 auxiliary subunits recapitulates function in heterologous expression (CHO cells). Cav1.2 channels, widely distributed in cardiac and smooth muscle, and in neurons, are therapeutic targets in cardiovascular and neurological diseases.
