Background
The human SCN10A/SCN3B gene encodes the pore-forming subunit of Nav1.8, a voltage-gated sodium channel expressed in the peripheral nervous system including dorsal root ganglia. The SCN3B gene encodes an auxiliary β-subunit that promotes surface expression. Nav1.8 channels are upregulated in chronic/inflammatory pain and are therapeutic targets in pain treatment.
