Background
The KCNN4 gene encodes the pore-forming subunit of an intermediate-conductance (11 pS single channel conductance), K+-selective, channel that is activated by increased intracellular [Ca2+]. Widely distributed, hKCa3.1 channels are therapeutic targets in several inflammatory and immune diseases.
