  • Intracellular calcium response from CHO-K1 cells stably expressing human alpha-1a adrenergic receptor. Cells were loaded with Fluo-4NW then stimulated with the indicated concentrations of linolenic acid. Calcium responses were recorded on a FlexStation plate reader. Data represent the average +/- standard deviation of triplicate determinations.

Quick Overview

Human Alpha-1a Adrenergic Receptor-expressing GPCR (G protein-coupled receptor) stable, replicating cell line.

Background

Alpha-1 adrenergic receptors are widely distributed and mediate a variety of functions including smooth muscle contraction, cardiac stimulation, cellular proliferation, apoptosis and activation of hepatic gluconeogenesis and clycogenolysis. Three distinct alpha-1 adrenergic receptors have been identified and are known as alpha-1a, alpha-1b, and alpha-1c receptors.
