Background
Somatostatin is a cyclic peptide widely expressed in the GI tract, endocrine tissues and brain. It exerts diverse physiological functions including inhibition of release of insulin, glucagon, growth hormone, as well as inhibition of release of pituitary and GI peptides. Five receptors for somatostatin have been identified. This SST4 receptor-expressing cell line is useful for both radioligand binding and for functional assays.
