  • Intracellular calcium response from 1321N1 astrocytoma cells stably expressing human P2Y1 purinergic receptor receptors (blue) or from untransfected control cells (black). Cells were loaded with Fluo-4NW then stimulated with the indicated concentrations of ADP. Calcium responses were recorded on a FlexStation plate reader. Data represent the average +/- standard deviation of triplicate determinations.

Quick Overview

Human P2Y1 Purinergic Receptor-expressing GPCR (G protein-coupled receptor) stable, replicating cell line.

Background

The human P2Y family of metabotropic receptors include eight accepted members, including P2Y1,2,4,6,11,12,13,14. P2Y2,4,11 are activated mainly by nucleoside triphosphates whereas P2Y1,6,12,13 are activated by nucleoside diphosphates. P2Y1 couples preferentially to Gq/11 and is expressed in a variety of tissues including platelets, endothelia, smooth muscle, CNS, osteoblasts and B-islet cells.
