Background
KCa2.1 - KCa2.3 (SK1, SK2, and SK3) are “small conductance”, calcium-activated, potassium-selective channels. Channel gating is relatively insensitive to membrane potential, compared with other family members (e.g. KCa1.1). SK channels expressed in neurons contribute to afterhyperpolarization that regulates repetitive firing.
